A11 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I have a few files on a Memorex DVD+-RW and I want to remove them so I can reuse the disc for other things. The problem is that when I go to "erase disc" in IMGburn, it does not erase the disc, it sais "disc not empty" and doesn't erase anything when I set it to quick or full. I've tried opening the disc and erasing them manually, but it sais "the file is read only" so I clicked on properties to change that, but it doesn't allow me to, and it sais "access denied" and that I can't copy/move/delete files from this disc. It's a 4.7 gig disc, but in properties, it sais it's capacity is only about 2.8 gigs (the size of the everything on it)and that it has no free space. I was just trying to make a backup copy of a game too, but it didn't work, (this is what I'm trying to remove from the disc but can't). Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?
Cynthia Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Can you use Read mode and insert the disc and then post the info you see in the right window panel - Disc Information ?

mmalves Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A 102C (ATA)Current Profile: DVD-R Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG. AM3 That's not a rewritable disc so you can't erase it. Only DVD-RW / DVD+RW / DVD-RAM discs are rewriteable.

Only DVD-RW / DVD+RW / DVD-RAM discs are rewriteable. So basically, even though the disc was rewritable originally, now it can't be rewritten again?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 No, it was never rewritable in the first place. You must be confusing it with another disc or perhaps confused about something written on the packaging.
A11 Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 So I can burn things to the discs, I just can't erase them?(I have 24 other discs that are the same, but empty).
A11 Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) Yes, this was my first time. I didn't know how easy it is to scrap a disc. Thanks for the help though. Edited March 21, 2010 by A11
Cynthia Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I think you got tricked on the RW logo that is the official logo for the DVD+R/+RW alliance and that can be found on +R media discs surface.
