LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Try cleaning your drive with a cleaning disc. Try some Verbatim DVD+R discs or some Taiyo Yuden DVD-R if you perfer to stick with that format.

Try some Verbatim DVD+R discs or some Taiyo Yuden DVD-R if you perfer to stick with that format. Wow, no wonder they call you Lightning! That was so quick! Thanks very much; I'll try to get a cleaning disc as soon as the shops open. I'm using Verbatim DVD-R, but I'll give DVD+R a shot and see how it goes. Thanks again. Either way, I'll post about my results after I've tried.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I think Verbatims DVD+R discs are better than their DVD-R. If I'm buying DVD-R then I'll go for TYG02 (Taiyo Yuden) every time.

Lightning, you are the best! You have no idea how much I've been rebooting all weekend, trying to disable my stupid screensaver, burning coasters, etc... I couldn't wait to get a cleaning disk (but I will as soon as the shops open) so I just looked inside my drive and took out a human hair that had somehow gotten onto the surface of the drive! (It's not mine; it's curly...) Now I've been able to burn just fine! Thanks so much! You have no idea how relieved I am! Just one thing though, does this error mean anything? LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Same issue you've had all along really - the drive is having trouble moving the laser to the correct place. Hopefully the cleaning disc will fix it. You should also update the firmware on the drive. Assuming it's a Dell one, try this: http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_1368-file_103D-1.zip.html
