The only thing I can think of that I made changes is that I upgraded Imgburn from 1.1 I believe and installed Isobuster. Don't know if Isobuster messes my drive or not. I also never had any problem burning with this media before with Imgburn. Any help will be greatly appreciated! I attached an image of the error too. From the tests done for the 'Drives & Media' forum, I found the RITEK-R03-02 ones to be pretty bad. You'd do well to stop using them and go with higher quality media. garfunk Posted May 23, 2006 Author Share Posted May 23, 2006 I'm sorry I'm not hardware savvy, what is dma? I just recently bought this spindle from Office Depot, Maxell DVD+R 8x. However, I did successfully burn a few DVDs from it with Imgburn. I didn't know Ritek R03 2s are bad. The only reason I switched to another brand was because of my poor experience with Verbatim MCC004, which ultimately created unreadable DVDs within a month. Recently I'm having bitter experiences with unreadable media, such as the Verbatim described above. But I'm still confused about why it won't burn now when it could with the same exact media. polopony Posted May 24, 2006 Share Posted May 24, 2006 I'm suprised to hear that you're having problems with Verbatim discs I use quite a bit of the 004's without any problems with an NEC3500. Verbs are at the top of the list in media Physical Format Information (ADIP): Disc ID: MCC-004-00 Book Type: DVD+R Part Version: 1 its possible that the drive is going south on you ,you should at the least get a kit to clean the laser and see if it helps ,re flash the firmware ,firmware is where all the media "brands" are recognized ,do the DMA thing and see if it helps .You could also switch your drive to your brothers machine and see if its OS related keep in touch and we'll get it figured out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As for DMA, my computer says that the drive is already in DMA mode. I don't know if my drive is primary or secondary, but here's a screenshot of the primary. I'm concerned for my drive now. I have no clue how it got messed up (or whatnot). I also returned my remaining Maxell DVD spindles... too bad I wasted $15 on one. Already halfway through it. I also have a question under the Important section of enabling DMA. I run WinXP, so do I uninstall this? Second screenshot. I'm afraid if losing my drives if I do so. You right-click on the DMA controller and uninstall it. Make sure you delete the DMA controller that your burner is connected to (I don't think deleting the main controller entry will do much). You then need to restart your computer. Windows will redetect your DMA controller and also the drives on it (think of it as a spring clean for Windows ). I asked my friend who does IT stuff at his job and he says he personally won't dabble in this stuff and that my computer might not reboot. I'm quite apprehensive, sorry. But if this can potentially fix my burner, I might try it, I just need to make sure this won't do any harm to my computer. Burning is the easy part....... usually. Even crap media like CMC burn occasionally. Regardless of how many of these things you've already burned, INFODISK media is garbage. I suspect that most (if not all) would have failed to verify after the burn. A "power calibration" error is a dead giveaway for either a fooked drive or shit media. Deleting or uninstalling the IDE controllers won't make a rat's arse of difference when the media is rubbish. The end. When you go shopping next time get some "Taiyo Yuden" media.
