dbminter Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 This time, I'm throwing open what is generally considered a running joke in the beta forums out for all to read. I need some recommendations for a CD/DVD drive I need to replace. I want something that isn't locked down in terms of read speeds. I want something that read in CD's and DVD's at a pretty good pace and not arbitrarily locked down to lower speeds because some Hollywood lawyer says so. So, what can you guys recommend? I would also like for this drive to be available on NewEgg.com, but, it's not a requirement. I just need a good drive that isn't locked down in terms of read speeds. I also need it to be an SATA drive. I don't know if they still make PATA drives anymore, but, the drive I'm replacing is an SATA one. Thanks!
