moonsmile Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) I have tried to burn different discs (cd/dvd) and both images and files. And it always stops on writing leadin and sits there till I reboot my pc. Because the stop button will only tell my "easy I heard you the first time". Even killing the imgburn process in taskmanager keeps the drive busy and I can't eject the cds until after reboot. This is both with test and live modes. If someone has any idea please tell me. I had daemon-tools installed but de-installed it and stopped the STPD drivers aswell. I have followed some other threads and did a search but nothing has helped so far. I have not raid activated in bios either and the official drivers from plextor tells me that it can't find any devices. Thanks again! I 20:20:57 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Update to the 1.02 firmware. http://www.firmwarehq.com/Plextor/PX-716AL/files.html What chipset does your motherboard use? 'RAID' drivers don't like optical drives.
moonsmile Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 (edited) Tried updating the firmware with the link you provided but it says "No drive found". Intel P55 and here is the link to the drivers page gigabyte.eu. Before sending in the log file I tried updating with the "GIGABYTE SATA2 driver" but with no luck. Also updated the chipset with the drivers from the webpage. Edited May 20, 2010 by moonsmile
ianymaty Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Connect the drive to one of the SATA2 (I think it is the white colored in picture) connection and disable RAID in BIOS for GIGABYTE SATA2 chip. Then try the update again.
moonsmile Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 My plextor optical drive is connected via the IDE interface. (Kind of off topic but I have something called GSATA2, dunno what that is.)
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 You probably need the latest JMicron driver then. I believe that's what GigaByte uses for its GSATA2 ports. ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/XP_Vista_Win7/ Take your pick from the 2 latest versions - eSATA or not.
ianymaty Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 GIGABYTE SATA2 chip: 1 x IDE connector supporting ATA-133/100/66/33 and up to 2 IDE devices 2 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors (GSATA2_0, GSATA2_1) supporting up to 2 SATA 3Gb/s devices Support for SATA RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD The IDE connector is controlled by the GIGABYTE SATA2 chip whatever it be in BIOS. Oh! BIOS version is it up to date (F8)? For update to work probably you have to set the drive single on cable as master and run as Admin.
moonsmile Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 well the changelog for the bios didn't mention any I/O controllers but unless someone comes up with anything I'll try and flash my bios tmrw. Tried ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 too but same problem. Though it worked fine with winxp on my old computer. So it's either a hardware related problem or something with win7.
moonsmile Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Flashed my bios to latest version and Imgburn still hangs on Writing Leadin!!!! It's is really annoying me now. Any ideas?
