Marty33 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Hey everyone, So today I had my Xbox flashed with the newest iXtreme firmware, back at that guy's place his burnt games worked fine. So I got home, started imgburn and tried to burn Red Dead Redemption. I first checked it with abgx and except for saying that Video partition does not match known data it was all green. I burnt it at 4x speed (tried setting 2,4x, but imgburn showed some kind of error message and burnt it at 4x - I have got Asus drw-2014l1t drive). It finished without any errors, but when I put it into xbox drive, the screen goes black. It looked as if it would launch - it wanted to download the newest patch and I have got it in played games, but the screen is black and it wouldn't go any further than that (i can still go to dashboard and all that tho, so the console doesnt freeze). I burned it on Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL. I have got xbox 360 with Hitachi drive, its really old one, 2006 I think. Any ideas? Thanks.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Post a log of you burning and verifying a Verb DVD+R DL disc. Read this too as it may apply if the burn + verify was successful. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=12200

Cynthia Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Could try the other speeds 6x and 8x. 4x is what you have tried with last time.
mmalves Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Also don't use your D: drive with other programs while burning or you'll get buffer underruns again, which compromise the burn quality.
ianymaty Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 And also put SP3 on Windows XP 'couse Support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) will end on July 13, 2010.
Marty33 Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) well, I uninstalled SPTD as I learned that this is what might be causing the trouble (right?). I don't think that burning it even faster will help, as I have one of those really old dvd drives in my xbox and I learned from other sites and topics in this forum that drives like this are able to read only dvd burnt at 2.4x. The SP3 yeah, I can do that, but will it really help? The question, I think, is, why does it change the writing speed to 4x even though I set 2,4x? And is my drive (asus drw-2014l1t) even able to burn the games properly for them to work? Once again, thanks for any help Edited June 18, 2010 by Marty33
mmalves Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I 11:45:56 Destination Device: [2:1:0] ASUS DRW-2014L1T 1.02 (E:) (ATA)I 11:45:56 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x) Because 4x is the slowest speed your burner and its firmware support with that disc, and as you saw for yourself, it didn't work. All what the reader drive cares is the burn quality, which won't be optimal if you burn 8x rated media at 0.5x. Maybe cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc could help.
ianymaty Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 The SP3 yeah, I can do that, but will it really help? This is not really for ImgBurn to do its job done. It is for your system health and security.
