Lozzy Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I'm frequently getting the following error, and yet the discs seem perfectly fine. It's a mismatch of the number of sectors on disc compared to the image. Any Ideas? mmalves Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Try burning at 16x instead of MAX. Also notice that you may get a better burn quality at 8x or 12x, if you can spare the extra time it takes to burn.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 This is caused by a bug in the drive's firmware. It reports the wrong value for the size of the track (1 sector too small).
Lozzy Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I've taken those points on board. The one thing that is odd though is that it's only started relatively recently, i.e since an imgburn update. The firmware in the drive hasn't been changed, hence my posting of the query on this forum. Also, if it was down to a firmware bug, why does it not happen religiously every time I wonder? I will try 16x from now on to see if that helps and let you know how I get on. And thanks again for responding so quickly. Lozzy
Cynthia Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 It was changed in ver 2.5.1.0. Changed: No longer using the TOC information for the disc layout when reading DVD/HD DVD/BD disc, the information reported by the 'Read Disc/Track Information' commands is used instead.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 There's another thread that talks about the problem in detail. The firmware bug only pops up when dealing with a disc where the total number of sectors is 1 larger than a value that's exactly divisible by 16. (Which 2041441 is) It happens on loads of LiteOn / Samsung drives (and of course any others that are OEMs of those two).
