I've been using DVD Decrypter (and now ImgBurn) for quite some time now. I usually burn to Verbatim DVD-R (MCC 02RG20) and they are usually great, but it seems that I've received a bad batch or there are other issues going on with my pc that are causing a ton of coasters. A lot I am pretty sure were bad media but a couple result in a failure and then the DVD-+RW Drive can no longer be used and I have to re-boot the computer to regain the ability to use it. So I am wondering if there is more going on here. My drive is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.18 (ATA). Here are two different log files for two different failures that both led to the drive being unsuable until a reboot:

Also, I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP2 on an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 1GB Ram. I hope this is enough information and I appreciate any help with this. Thanks

Ignore the bit where it says 'Reason: No additional sense information', that's a bug in the program.

The real error is this one:

W 12:47:14 Potential 'WaitImmediateIO' Deferred Error - Write Error.

and that bit in bold should be copied to where it say the 'no additional sense information' stuff.

So.... yes you're getting write errors as the drive tries to finalise the disc. That's not a good sign.

It is not a good sign meaning the media is bad or that my drive is going bad? I've been getting a lot of "invalid address" errors which indicates bad media, and from what you said I am thinking that a write error is also due to bad media. I just want to make sure that we are both in agreement that it is bad media or if you feel the drive may be going bad? Thanks for the help and the quick reply.

Well, I'd rather have it be bad media than a bad drive or some other PC issues. It sucks though. I've been using this media for months now and when they're good I have hardly any coasters if at all. Lately though, when they've been bad it's been the whole dang pack. I have had 35% fail (17 of 48 total burned). Even as I write this ImgBurn is stuck at 0% and I hit 'cancel' about 10 minutes ago or more, which is also a problem I've had time to time with this media. It can usually only be corrected by rebooting. Verbatim said I could send in all the failures and they'd test them and replace them if they're defective. Hopefully I'll get some replacements, but I guess I should be looking into purchasing a different brand media in the near future. I still have two more 50 packs of these left. I can only hope they don't turn out like the first one.
