Failed burn, I/O error

Hey guys.

Just got a 10 pack of Verbatim DVD+R DL disks for burning XBOX360 backups and I'm having some real problems.

Ruined two disks so far (with two different image files, for some reason the second one didn't come up in the log file but it was exactly the same error(s) as the one I'm going to post) and I'm hoping to not ruin any more if possible haha.

Before the log and screeny, I'll give you some specs/details.

I'm running a mid-2007 Macbook using Windows 7 Enterprise on a partition created by Bootcamp. Am trying to burn at 2.4x speed as that's what is recommended for XBOX360 games. Haven't tried any other speeds yet. Curiously, when I burned one of the same two images to a DVD-R DL disk (before I realised these don't work on XBOX) it actually burned the whole image to the disk, but with the DVD+R it gets to 50% (I think just before the layer change) and completely craps out. Any help would be really appreciated.

Here is a screenshot of the error and the relevant text from the log file:

Update ImgBurn. Try burning at 4x. Try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc, or even manually if you know how to do it.

If all that doesn't help then you could try finding the 2.4x rated Verbatim DVD+R DL blanks, or perhaps get an external, non-slimline burner, e.g., an Optiarc AD-7240S or 7260S in an external enclosure.

Ooh, I didn't realise I had an outdated version.. Will download that now and then try it at 4x speed and see how that goes.

Are there any settings I should be changing? I get a bit confused with so many options haha. I changed the layerbreak and the book type as per instructions but not sure if anything else needs to be changed.

You didn't need to change anything 'as per instructions'.

The booktype stuff is automatic and the layerbreak value is read from the .DVD file.

Really... Could that have perhaps caused problems? I changed the layerbreak in the "Write" section of the settings and I changed DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM in change booktype.

Hey again. I actually got it to work last night at 4x after I updated and reset settings to default, so thanks a lot for that help :)

Only problem now is that the disc is "unable to be read" in my XBOX, which sucks (and I know that's not really covered on here). I guess maybe I'll try at 2.4x speed again and see if it's any different..

Also, something I noticed when it was burning at 4x speed last night is that it got about 1/4 of the way through, maybe 1/3, and the write speed completely dropped to zero for a few seconds but then went back up to normal again... is that normal?
