anzelo Posted September 18, 2010 Share Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) I have been trying to find solution for my problem, but despite searching I haven't been able to find exact answer. So here is description of my problem step by step: 1) I put DVD to the drive, and start Imgburn 2) Imgburn shows very weird Media ID: ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ 3) I burn .ISO file in "write" mode, this goes without problems 4) When Imgburn attempts to verify, I see message "no media present", and also windows does not recognize the present media at all no matter how many times I eject and insert DVD again. Drive makes sound that it attempts to start reading -> I hear spinning getting faster for a little while -> then drive stops. Media what I'm using is Taiyo Yuden TYG03 DVD-R, so I guess that is not the problem. This exactly same thing has happened many times before also with Verbatim disks. Also sometimes burning & verifying have been successful, but still windows might see just Blank media inserted, and when this happens, normally windows recognizes media properly after I have ejected and inserted it again a few times, not always though. Drive doesn't have any problems reading "normal" (commercial) media. DVD drive is LiteOn SSM-8515S with GS09 firmware. Firmware version is the newest possible. Could this all be caused by the DVD drive? Any help is greatly appreciated! EDIT: Im attaching screenshot of my computer explore window, where in other place Drives E: and I: are present, and in other place they are not :S Drive E: is the physical drive, drive I: MagicDisc, and drive F: PowerISO. Also PowerISO doesn't seem to be present in device manager. I'm not sure if these things have anything to do with the described problem, but I thought that the more information, the better. I think I will go for the second option, already looked at LG's model GE20NU11 (Product link), and I believe it will suit my needs very well. I have had some good experiences with LG's drives before. Take a look over at the cdfreaks forum and see if people have posted disc quality scans from anything like it. An Optiarc 724x / 726x in an external enclosure would probably be the route I'd go.
