W 04:59:54 Failed to Write Sectors 2944 - 2975 - Reason: Invalid Address For Write

Hi I'm having trouble writing a blu ray disc from files i have on my computer. ImgBurn and Nero both stop recording while trying to burn (i've ruined 3 blank BD-Rs so far). I am using Verbatim 2X BD-R LHT Type discs. I bought and installed the BD Burner drive yesterday (Model: HP BD Writer bd340i ATA) and couldn't burn at first and subsequent tries. I used to have Alcohol 120% installed but i uninstalled it and other virtual drive emulators. I have Windows 7 as my operating system.

This seems to be a common problem for me. I installed a DVD Burner for my brother a few months ago and he had the same problem - Nero and ImgBurn wouldn't burn DVD-Rs but the built-in Windows 7 Burning would work. I don't remember how but my brother said it started working again and now he can burn DVDs/CDs from ImgBurn and Nero.

Does anyone have an idea as to why i am having this problem and how to fix it?

You missed the top bit of the log - we need the entire thing really.

If that's a LiteOn clone (which is probably is), you'll need a firmware update to support LTH media.

You probably should have just got an actual LiteOn branded model in the first place, it would have made updating the firmware so much easier.

How do i find out if i have a LiteOn clone and how can i get the firmware update if it is? I bought it online at Best Buy and they only had two models to chose from. Here's the whole thing i think (a hard drive backup of my Iron Man 2 disc):

Download the Flash Utility from here - http://codeguys.rpc1.org/utilities.html

Run it and see if it will let you read the firmware off your drive ('Read Flash').

Download the EEPROM Utility from that same page.

Run it and see if it will let you read the EEPROM off your drive ('Backup Eeprom').

If you get any error messages or it doesn't seem to do anything, try and get a screenshot please. (Sometimes you can copy + paste them via 'CTRL+C' (copy) and 'CTRL+V' (paste) on your keyboard)

Ok, the Flash Utility was able to read the firmware and save it to a file and the EEPROM Utility was able to read the EEPROM and save it to a file as well. Does this mean a firmware update is possible?

Well, it means you can probably crossflash it to a real liteon.

At this point I'd probably go and make a thread in the LiteOn forum at 'MyCE' (aka CDFreaks) and just double check with people.

You should try and make C0deKing aware of the drive and see what he says. It probably wouldn't hurt to upload the firmware/eeprom you extracted either... then they can tell you for sure if crossflash is possible and if so, to which exact model.

Hmmm I see they're being unusually slow at helping you out over at the MyCE forums :(

Can you upload the firmware file here for me please, I'll take a quick look and see if I can find any obvious clues.
