LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 RITEKG05 are cheap and cheerful, and 6x is the fastest speed that drive supports on them. There's nothing wrong, that's just how it is.
bigdave Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Wierd that a new drive 118 is writing slower than a 115, Oh well back it goes then, Thought I need to tick a box somewhere lol. Thanks m8,
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 It's just with that one specific dye. They probably dropped the max to 6x because 8x didn't produce very good quality burns - again, it's a cheap and cheerful dye. RITEKG05 is old now and RITEK discs stopped being any good after RITEKG04. Pioneer stopped making drives after the 117/217 range and now they just 're-brand' someone else's work. The 118/218 use a totally different chipset (MediaTek) which basically means you purchased a rebranded LiteOn.
bigdave Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 If I knew It was a Liteon I would haven't bothered!!
