lfcrule1972 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Saw this in an ad today - http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thefog/site/index.html Looks like Sony are re-making the 80's (?) horror flick The Fog ! I remember conning our baby sitter into renting this on VHS when I was 10 or so and then watching the leper crew butcher San Antonio bay....... Quite enjoyed the original but can't really see what a re-make can improve on..... from the bried glimpses on the site it looks like the same story...
zacoz Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Quite enjoyed the original but can't really see what a re-make can improve on..... from the bried glimpses on the site it looks like the same story... I don't know that improving on the original is ever a goal is it ? A remake, would normally by default produce a renewed market for the original. You look at any remake, and generally find the original is all of a sudden released or re-released on DVD, the TV stations air it, and the inevitable comparison reviews prompt people who have never seen the first to end up seeing both. Even if the remake bombs they make up $$'s on the original.
spinningwheel Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Agreed, but wasn't the original a dog starring Adrien Barbeau?
lfcrule1972 Posted October 17, 2005 Author Posted October 17, 2005 I am going to try and get myself a copy now - somehow the memories I have of it from some 20 years ago are probably a little rose tinted !
tigerman8u Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I rented "The Fog" last weekend and watched it. I want to see the new one to see what it's like
Grain Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I bot it a couple years ago, but haven't got around to watching it yet
clink Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 I didnt think the original was very good. Not compared to the book anyway.
lfcrule1972 Posted October 18, 2005 Author Posted October 18, 2005 I think I have the best view of it as I was 11ish when I saw it and lets face it your hardly the worlds harshest critic at that age !
