Rincewind Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Doesn't both joliet and UDF support unicode? If thats the case, isn't it kinda redundant to have joliet+UDF as an option? I obviously don't know that much, but I thought (maybe I am wrong) that UDF also supports unicode.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 All the files systems have their own limitations. The more you have on the disc, the more chance there is that something will be able to read it (and it helps in recovery situations where a file system may be damaged - due to disc scratches etc). Devices tend to use the best file system on the disc, but some may support UDF (for a certain content type) and some may not. Therefore it helps to have both.
