Making Xbox 360 disk - hangs at Verify

Hi Guys,

I don't like to sign up to a forum and immediatley ask for help with my first post, but I've had a good look around and can't seem to come across my problem ...

Here goes ...

I'm trying to make and xbox 360 disk and everything seems to be going smoothly until the point of the burn where ImgBurn will try to verify the disk. The disk tray opens and closes and then nothing ... there is a message stating that 'Medium is Not Present' and the program just sits and waits, I try to open and close the tray again but to no effect and have no option but to close/cancel the process.

I tried this once, then read up on some issues which led me to update my burner's driver (I'm using an LG HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55L with firmware 1.06, I believe it should be fine for the purpose)

The only thing i can think of is that it appears I have Verbatim MKM-003-00 disks which can burn at 8x, HOWEVER, I'm manually changing the write speed from AWS to 2.4x (as i've heard this is the magic speed, although maybe not anymore  ??)

As you can see from my log below, this leads to a "Miscompare"

Edit: Just also noticed my book type is DVD-ROM, should this be DVD-RAM??, how do I change this if so?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks, Dave

Hi Lightning, thanks for the reply,

I had read them but have a couple of questions which I can't see the answer to (unless I'm being completely blind)

Because I have Verb disks optimised for 8x write speeds, is that the speed I should use, should I specifically set 8x speed or leave it at AWS?

Any suggestions re the DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM question? Wouldn't burning the .dvd file automatically set this in the same way it sets the layer break?

Regards, Dave

AWS doesn't mean anything (beyond 'MAX' speed - notice it says the effective speed in brackets next to it) unless you actually configure the 'Automatic Write Speed' feature. There's a guide for that in the Guides forum.

You should test all 'Supported' write speeds - as per instruction from the threads I linked to. Some/one may perform better than others and it's impossible for us to tell you which - every drive/firmware/media combo is different.

No idea why you think it should say DVD-RAM. It's normal (and good) for it to be DVD-ROM. No, the book type setting has nothing to do with the .DVD file.
