Dear Forum users,

I apologise in advance if this particular thread has been covered in detail before, but it is new to me.

I used to be able to burn at 2.4x using my OPTIARC/NEC 7200A drive (This was on my xp system), and the discs would be read fine by my XBOX360.

Since I have updated everything, Windows 7, Latest Firmware for mty drive (Currently 1.09), Latest imageburn. I can no longer burn at 2.4x speed.

I get a drive speed miscompare. I do not wish to downgrade my system, so Im hoping based on the log below and any user that has the same/similar setup and is working, if you could please advise.

The verbatim media im using is MKM0300.

If you've got the 1.09 firmware on, why does your log say 1.06?

You might need MKM-001-00 dye discs to burn at 2.4x. It's not possible with your current drive/firmware/media (MKM-003-00) combo.

Burning at 2.4x isn't the answer to all the world's problems, your drive should be more than capable of producing a working disc at the other speeds too. You just need to find the best speed (from the choice of 3).

I changed the firmeware down to 1.06 when i i was trying to back track my steps to when I was able to produce working discs.

This is a fresh spindle of discs i boguht over the internet. Im tempted to go to pc world and buy a different drive!

JOY!! I have swapped drives from my old server which has an NED ND4751A - put in desktop, set 2.4x speed , working just fine :)

Shitty Sony Optiarc lol

Its common knowledge that burning at 2.4x for the purposes of being read correctly by xbox360 is best practise.

I have however now another issue ; screenshot attached. ive opted to by another drive Samsung SH-S223 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA Optical Drive - OEM Black

No, it's OLD common knowledge. People start saying these things and have no clue what they're talking about.

The playback device doesn't know or care about what speed the disc was burnt at, all that matters is you have a good quality burn - which then makes the disc easier to read.

Some burners might produce a better quality burn at 4x, 6x or 8x than they do at 2.4x.

Your log clearly shows you have DMA issues.

Type 'Logical Unit Communication CRC Error' into the Google search box at the top of the forum and read some of the threads.

You should have stuck with the Optiarc drives (7260), it's a better burner than the Samsung.
