lordofdoubled Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Need a little help here - have been searching the forum and can't find a definitive answer on this. Just went to burn a blu-ray iso - size is 46.6 GB Trying to burn the iso to a 50GB Sony BD-RE disk imgburn reports: There doesn't appear to be enough space on this disc to burn this image Image size: 24,438,784 sectors (47,732 MB) Disc size: 23,652,352 sectors (46,196 MB) Would you like to continue anyway? So I'm wondering is there a way to adjust the setting in imgburn to free up some space on the BD-RE? I have been looking in the tools/write area - specifically at the spare area check box - am I on the right path? Thanks in advance!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Formatting a BD-RE without spare areas makes it as big as it can be. If it still won't fit after doing that, you're out of luck. Do remember that 50GB discs aren't actually 50GB at all.
lordofdoubled Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks so much for the quick response. Can you step me through the settings required to format the disc without spare areas? I want to make sure that I am doing it correctly. Thanks again!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 The default settings are all you need, then just do a full format on the disc.
lordofdoubled Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Great - I just realized that this BD-RE I'm using came pre-formatted - I'll see what happens on the next one.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 It doesn't matter if they've been formatted before.
