OK I am using DVDFab and Imgburn 2.5.4.0 and when I burn a BD-RE I get the message on my samsung BDP-3600 and 4600 that this disc cannot be played and then the disc ejects. Now when I burn with a BD-R it plays fine! I have ImgBurn setup the way the forum states and I have used it as a stand alone burner and also with Fab. I have formated the disc and format with spare space is selected (I don't know how to turn it off)I just cant seem to figure this out as both player play BDRE, it seems as if the disc is not finalizing or closing? It does not say it when its done! I also tried using tsmuxR and when I burned the files to the disc I did not get the this disc cannot play pop up but the opening screen and it was in slow motion...you could not watch it. So any suggestions I have posted this on the Fab forum also. I am using TDK 1-2x BD-RE and my burner is a LG BH08LS20 and the FW is up to date. Also the box says the player will burn at 2x for BD-RE but the slowest I can get it to do is 2.4x.

Here is the burn log

According to the manufacturer the player should work with a BD-RE disc, so I would look at how you made the image for one thing and also try a different disc manufacturer.

Post a copy of the burn log also.

Why didn't you allow ImgBurn to verify the burn?

The updated firmware may support the 2.4 speed if it was rated at 2.0 on the box.

I did let it verify before and there was no problem as I have been trying to figure this out all day!! Also I just popped the disc into my laptop that has a BD drive and when I pull up properties of the disc it says 0 bytes used space and 0 bytes free space, I didn't make the image any different than burning a bluray which I have done allot, this is the first time I have used BDRE media

I don't do BD here, but can't you erase/format the disc before use?

?? you have to format the disc before you can use it, which takes and hour and a half to do!!! How do you change the option of format with spare areas? I want to turn this off as default is on. And is there anybody on the board that has successfully burned a BDRE movie and played it on a samsung?

OK we'll have to wait for someone else to come online that's more familiar with BluRay than I am, check back in later this evening or possibly in the morning and hopefully someone will be able to better figure this out.

Default is to format with spare areas disabled... which is how yours seems to be configured anyway going by the size of the disc. (12,219,392 sectors)

Go into the settings, switch to the 'Write' tab and hit the 'Defaults' button. Then select 'No' so it just resets the options on that tab. If nothing else, that'll turn off 'Fast Write' which you don't really want on anyway.

LG drives seem to use 2.4x as the lowest speed on BD-RE, don't worry about it. All my recent testing on the BH10LS30 shows it's not an issue and actually gives the LG drives a slight edge over the competition.

Ok so if we are setup ok? why are these disc not playing? is it the brand of disc? TDK I mean should have have to change anything when burning a BDR or a BDRE? I am using this with FAB and also trued stand alone. If I select the disc in my computer where all the drives are on the screen it automatically pulls up ImgBurn and then burns an ISO to my HDD if I right click and select properties it says 0 bytes used and 22gb free, if I right click it on the left pane while in tree fromat and hit properties I get the BMDV and certificate flders and 15.6 gb used?????

No idea.

All we care about is if it burns and verifies.

If your machine/drive is doing that ok, the rest is out of our hands - you might have a picky standalone.

No, there's nothing to change when switching media. In fact, you shouldn't ever have to change anything ever. The default settings work fine (I used them every day) and the program will suggest/perform changes when it detects it needs to.

Windows often gets confused about how much of a disc is used / left free, just ignore what it says. Sometimes the values fix themselves if you eject the disc, reboot and then insert it again.

Ok so I ran the files through TSMuxR and then burned! This changed multiple mts files to one, and now it plays....so does this get ImgBurn of the hook?? Just trying to narrow it down, also the sammy has never had problems playing multiple mts files!
