Need Help in changing book type

I have a Plextor BD-R PX-B940SA 1.08 (ATA), and when I insert a DVD+R or any +R, I can't change the book type to -R. I know it is not the discs I use because my secondary burner is able to change the book type and they work fine. I go into the settings and when I choose Plextor, and then change for: either selection i choose, it says: Unknown (FAILED!) Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code. So I then went into advanced, and choose Plextor as the Drive OEM, and then I put in:

Drive OEM: Plextor BD-R

Drive ID String: PX-B940SA1.08 (ATA)

Running windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.33 GHz 2.33 GHz

4gb RAM

Any suggestions??? TIA

Yes, go back into the 'Advanced' area and remove what you added. It doesn't work like that and what you've done serves no purpose.

Your drive is a Pioneer BDR-205 clone, Plextor haven't made their own drives for years.

Pioneer drives don't have a command for changing the booktype so you're wasting your time.

You might be able to enable bitsetting (permanently) on the real Pioneer firmware with MediaCodeSpeedEdit and flash that into the drive.

That's a topic for the MyCE.com forums though.

OK, thank you for the quick response, guess I'll just buy -R for now on.
