I/O Error (yes - as well)

So, I've also got a problem with an I/O Error. Since I guess it's a different problem than the other one, I created a new topic. If I shouldn't have, please join this topic with the other thread.

-----------

I've been using ImgBurn since yesterday and have successfully burned the first 4 DVDs with a file structure on them.

But right now, whatever I do, I always get an I/O Error message and can't find a workaround.

DVD-Burner used: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-U20N HX12 (ATAPI)

Firmware is up to date. (HX12)

Media Type used: MBIPG101-R05-01 (They are called 'Platinum' here in Germany, but they are marketed around the world under various names afaik.)

Don't know if this is important, but here is the information that is displayed under Device

Now, when I try burning a File (or folder structure) to the DVD, I get the following result:

Writing Speed 8x (have also tried 4x with no different result)

Well, and that's that. Really confusing for me, because the first 4 DVDs were burned without any Problems and now this.

Also I can't remember changing any setting that could have caused those problems.

I'd be grateful if anyone here had a solution for me. Already in love with the programm.

If you require more information, please ask right away.

You already have the latest firmware on the drive so all you can do is try cleaning it with a cleaning disc, try the 4x write speed and buy some different (better) discs - Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (well, something not using the 'MBIPG101-R05-01' dye!)

So you presume it's a hardware problem? Either the writer itself or the media?!

Edit: Must be a hardware problem. I've just successfully burned a dvd and another one is burning right now. Media is still MBIPG101-R05-01.

I guess this thread can be closed then. Not a Software Problem - I'll have to find out what's wrong with the burner.

Thx for this nice programm btw!

The drive has complete control over the burn and whether it succeeds or fails, all the software does is send it data.

These issues are always a problem between the drive/firmware/media (and to a degree, the write speed selected - some will be successful when others aren't) combo you're using.

Like I said, try cleaning the drive with a cleaning disc.

If your drive is in tip-top condition and you use decent media, you shouldn't have any problems.
