Maxi Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Hi! I'm from Argentina, and i'm new in this forum. I had a problem whit this verbatims discs. I usually buy verbatims mkm-001, but this time i can't get it. I can only get mkm-003, I burned the first disc correctly, but whit the second appear the problem "internal target failure". I have the last firmware. I want to know if just that disc is bad or I should try to get verbatims mkm-001? Seems like the speed 2.4x it's supported. Anyway, can the xbox games be burned at 8x???? Rincewind Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Hopefully it is just that disc, everything else seems fine (you said your firmware is up to date, also you are running SP3, and 2.5.4 of Imgburn). The only other thing I can think of is perhaps to get a cleaning disc, and clean out your drive just in case. Other than that, try the next disc in the spindle. Good luck. ianymaty Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Unfortunately your drive is old and don't have support for the new media, see the only speed offered is 2.4x on 8x rated media. If you can't get the 2.4x media anymore maybe it's time to get a modern drive. Regarding the burn of xbox games at 8x is not a problem for the console, it doesn't know at wich speed was burned. All it needs is a good quality burn.
Maxi Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Thanks Rincewind and thanks ianymaty for your answers. I tried burn this type of disc again and unfortunately the same error occurred, this time in 91% (las time was in 61%) I was so close... I was looking for a new drive in the internet and discovered that they are SATA I don't have this type of connector if I change my motherboard, I have to change the processor, ram and videocard at least. It's so much. For now I will try to get a 2.4x media. Does modern ATA drives exists?
Rincewind Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 You mean PATA or SATA? As far as I know you CAN still get PATA (IDE-40pin) drives, or you can go with the new SATA drives provided of course your system supports SATA.
Maxi Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 I mean PATA. But I don't know if the companies still producing that drives (PATA) and have support for the new medias
Rincewind Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 (edited) SATA may be new, but that doesn't necessarily mean that PATA is just going to disappear that quickly. Sure optical drives are also now offered in SATA form, but PATA is still fine for DVD and perhaps BluRay. Still I don't see why you wouldn't be able to find a PATA drive at your local computer store either. Edited January 9, 2011 by Rincewind
ianymaty Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 The AD-722x series from Optiarc is comming in both SATA and PATA versions and is one of the recommended drives to burn Dual Layer DVD discs http://www.sonynec-optiarc.com/products/hhid_dvdrw/ad7220.html
Maxi Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks again for help me. I will look for a drive tomorrow (if I can't get a 2.4x media before ) ianymaty you anticipated to my question I hope that drive can be available here
Maxi Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 I was looking for that drive with no luck, sony burners seems like don't exists in my town. Was very difficult to find a drive ide here. Fortunately I find 2.4x media, a little more expensive than before. Maybe I could get some of these drives: - Lite On IMAP122 - Pioneer 20x dvr-118LBK - LG GH22NP20 22x Are these burners good? which you recommend me? Thanks
Cynthia Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 The Pioneer is not one that I would pick. Have one myself and it's not that good.
ianymaty Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I don't know about this specific model from LG, but I avoid them (LG drives), as most of my friends who own LG's have problems with the open/close tray. It don't respond, you have to kick it after you push the button in order to actualy execute the open command and push the tray to close as it don't obey the button close command.
Cynthia Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 - Lite On IMAP122 Not even Google has heard of that model before. Sure you wrote the right model number for that Lite-On burner?
Maxi Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 The Pioneer is not one that I would pick. Have one myself and it's not that good. Thanks, I read your analysis about that burner and the results with discs mkm003 I refused to accept it I don't know about this specific model from LG, but I avoid them (LG drives), as most of my friends who own LG's have problems with the open/close tray. It don't respond, you have to kick it after you push the button in order to actualy execute the open command and push the tray to close as it don't obey the button close command. I actually have problems whit my LG, the open/close button doesn't open the tray if the burner hasn't a disc inside I'm guessing it's iHAP122 Maybe, but would have sworn I saw written IMAP on the burner maybe I'm wrong, do not found it on google too Anyway, is that a good burner?
Cynthia Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I have an iHAS120, and it's ok. Just can't say I burned much with it. Using it as a scanner.
