Getting stuck erasing BD-RE DL

I have a brand new TDK BD-RE DL disk that I'm having problems erasing. The first time I attempted to erase the disk, it got stuck at about 90% on erasing disc. Since then I've tried it two or three more times, and each time it gets stuck at a different point while it's zeroing sectors. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

After each of these failure's I've tried buring an iso to the disk, which it looks like it will let me but it only wants to burn at 0.2x. I've also had the ability to quick erase after the initial failure.

I just started another attempt at an erase, and here is the log. It's still going, but upon failure it doesn't say anything, it just gets stuck:

Why don't you ditch that old Sony drive and install the Blu-ray in your PC?

Unless you've got a USB 3.0 enclosure, USB isn't fast enough to keep up with that Blu-ray drive.

A drive shouldn't ever just get stuck, it should return success/failure. If it's not, it could be due to something else in your system - i.e. an SATA/USB enclosure or some drivers.

Any reason you're still stuck back on SP1 for Vista? SP2 has been out for ages now.

You can get what is probably an updated firmware (1.00-A9) from this page:

or going the direct route:
