Christopher Souter Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Hello everyone, I have been trying to re-create a folder from my hard drive as a CD image. The folder I am trying to re-create contains two subfolders, (each of which have several subfolders of their own), and there are also several files in the root of the parent folder. I cannot find any option in ImgBurn for files from the root of the parent folder to be placed in the root of the CD image, and the subfolders also to be placed in the root of the CD image. Consequently, when I create the image file, the original parent folder from the hard drive is placed in the root of the CD image. Example: This is what I want: ------------------- CD ROOT FOLDER | | | SUBFOLDER | | | [MORE SUBFOLDERS] | FILE1 FILE2 FILE3 [ETC] This is what I get: ------------------ CD ROOT FOLDER | ORIGINAL PARENT FOLDER FROM HDD | | | SUBFOLDER | | | [MORE SUBFOLDERS] | | FILE1 FILE2 FILE3 [ETC] The only way I was able to create the CD the way I wanted it was to copy everything from the directory on my hard drive to the root of the partition. I was then able to build the image correctly. Is there an option anywhere in ImgBurn to specify that the root of the chosen directory should be the root of the CD? (It may be there, but I can't find it). The only other simple way to achieve this (as far as I can see) would be to create a new partition on the hard drive, dedicated to holding the files for the root directory and the subfolders in their correct relation to the root of the drive. (Not that that would be so very simple). If anyone could point me to a solution I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Best regards to all, Christopher (Chris) Souter (Sydney, Australia)
ianymaty Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Do you use the current version of ImgBurn? Post a log as per the pink box above recommend. ImgBurn should prompt you that you selected only one directory and the content of the selected directory should be in the root of the disc or not. If you select YES than only the content will be on the disc. If you select NO than the parent directory will be visible in the root of disc. Did you changed that setting in Tools/Settings/Build/Page 3/Prompts/ Don't prompt root content? Deactivate it or set it to YES. You shouldn't mess with the settings unless you know what you are doing.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Make sure 'Preserve Full Pathnames' isn't enabled on the 'Options' tab too.
ianymaty Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Thank LUK! for addition. I forgot to bring up that option too.
Christopher Souter Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Hi, everyone! Many thanks for your replies! "Preserve full pathnames" had been checked. It is now unchecked and everything works fine now. By the way, I'm running the latest version (2.5.5.0), and I have not made any changes to the settings. The only problem was the pathname, which I had checked by mistake. Best regards to all Chris Souter
