DVD is not recognized

DVD player does not show as output destination, but is listed in log. The CD player shows up in drop down. Both are listed in log. DVD player shows correctly in explorer as D drive, SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T F301. I can watch movies, etc. from DVD. Had the PC couple of years, original DVD and CD, never any problems. XP Home Edition SP 3. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
