PRG Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I bought a M1530 on the cheap a few months and installed Win 7 x64. Everything worked perfect. The drive is a Teac DVW28SLC. It's a slot load and the only eject button is with volume and DVD controls above the keyboard. I needed to burn something to DVD. I decided to try Imgburn for the software. Installed it, popped a fresh DVD-R in. DVD drive recognized the blank. I usually reboot a computer before burning, but realized I hadn't, so I rebooted. Now, the drive no longer works. After the reboot: -Drive is visible to bios. -Drive cycles on boot up, checking for a disc. -Drive is not visible in explorer -Drive is not visible to diskmgmt.msc -Drive is visible, not disabled and properly installed in the device manager. -Card reader also seems to not be visible either but is showing up in device manager. -Disc will not eject from keyboard button. Things I've tried to fix it: -Several reboots. -Uninstall Imgburn. -Uninstall Daemon Tools Lite. -Uninstall Drive in Device Manager, then reboot. -Uninstall Drive and ATA controllers then reboot. -Delete upper and lower filers at HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentCOntrol Set\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, no entries were present. -Reinstall chipset drivers, though I don't think Intel installer changed or installed anything. -Fixit does not work. Anyways, anyone got any ideas? I need my DVD drive back. Help!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 ImgBurn is a standalone exe. When it's not phyiscally running, it can't possibly be doing anything to your system. Does the drive show up if you boot Windows into safemode? You need not have messed with registry keys manually, there's a filter driver option in ImgBurn's Tools menu. Just double check it's empty for me please. If it really is present in Device Manager and without a yellow triangle, it should be accessible by apps - so maybe something is blocking it after that. Uninstalling DT doesn't remove the SPTD driver. You might like to uninstall (or at least disable) that and try again. I'd also like to see what's written in the log when you start the program.
PRG Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 Well, it's seems there was some human error and a different problem. I didn't have the blank disc in there after all, hence why it wouldn't eject, oops. The problem is instead explorer isn't showing empty removable drives irregardless of how the option is set in file and folder options. There goes an afternoon. Imgburn works fine.
