Imgburn write error

Recommended Posts

I had burned a wii game on to my dvd about a year ago, and recently it got scratched permanently, so i got rid of it and now i'm burning the file to a new disc. The problem I keep facing is that whenever i reach 92%-94% write, it stops writing and i get an error message that looks like this:

I/O Error!

Device: [1:0:0] TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652M 0414 (E:) (ATA)

^^This has happened 4 out of the 6 times i've tried (Other 2 times have been verification errors in which there was a Timeout In Logical Unit)

Here's the log that went with the error message above:

What's the brand of the media you're using? Have you tried burning at 8x? Also you should avoid using the computer while burning, so that you're less likely to get buffer underruns.

I'm using the newest version of Imgburn.

I haven't tried burning at 8x because this happened when i tried 4x, and apparently I'm supposed to slow down the speed of my burn if it fails the first time (although Imgburn forces a minimum of 4x).

And if it's just a buffer problem I'll be sure to take that advice next time.

It might be worth trying to clean the drive with a cleaning disc.

Are those MCC discs actually Verbatim discs or are they branded by someone else? (mmalves did ask you that earlier)

You could try getting some Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC) DVD-R instead.

ImgBurn doesn't force a minimum of 4x, your drive does - because that's all its firmware can support.

Any reason why you haven't updated your installation of Vista to SP2?! You should get that done ASAP.

Ok I'll use a cleaning disc.

About the brand of disc, I'm using Dynex DVD-R (i didnt understand his question)

I want to avoid buying a whole new pack of DVDs, but I will if it comes down to that being the only solution.

Um, am I supposed to receive notification of this update to SP2? Honestly, this is the first time I'm hearing of this update (and I feel like I dont know about a lot of things I should :'( )

Dynex discs are cheap ones and can be a bit of hit and miss. True Verbatims is a better card.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Turn-automatic-updating-on-or-off

Tells you how to enable the auto update of Windows.

A higher burn/write speed might work better as suggested before.

Ok well apparently I was unaware that the update was available (but my computer does have automatic update on). Also, unless I've been misinformed, doesn't a higher speed have a lower succession rate? I will try it anyways but please inform me if I am incorrect.

Ok well I just tried a burn with 8x speed. Made it past write stage and got stuck at 91% verification, which is when I received this message:

I/O Error!

^^This is the error I was referring to when I said that the burn made it past the writing stage twice.

Here's my new log (my computer is still updating so its not going to say SP2):
