luvmystf Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I've tried multiple times burning/writing an iso file to verbatim dvd-r. I've heard it's very good but somehow it never seems to work for me. After about 10 min, I end with this error message: I/O Error! Most people seem to have problems with after the disk has completed but I can't even get it to finish. Is there something I am doing wrong? I've looked at tutorials and all seem to be the way I am doing it. Also, after this error, my dvds are rendered useless so after a couple of tries, I've given up and hope someone out there can help me.
mmalves Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Try burning at 4x or 8x, as those are 16x rated blanks after all. If it still doesn't work then you could try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaning disc.

luvmystf Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Also: I 20:24:34 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7600) Any reason why you are not running SP1? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/service-packs I had no idea I wasn't running it. Best Buy promised me all updates would be up to date as I have no time for that and this is a fairly new computer. I also wrongly assumed Windows updates would take care of that but I'm installing now as I type and will update on any developments. Increasing speeds did not work at all. I only did it at 2x as thats what imgburn recommended. Also, any clue on how to make my DVDs that were rendered useless and don't work anymore due to failures in burning iso image to work again? Are there free or paid programs for that? Or is it time to throw them away and its become a piece of junk.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 You should see if you can get some Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC) discs and try those. Failing that, assume that because your drive can't even burn (decent quality) 'MCC 03RG20' discs properly that it's not much use to you and get another one. I have no faith in slimline drives what so ever. As for the discs that it's already messed up, well I'm afraid you just need to bin those, they're useless now.
