AngelsTasteFunny Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Here's the problem. I downloaded ImgBurn earlier today because the file would not burn on any computer. I have tried it on a number of computers so I know it's not just an issue with mine. This file is called en_windows_7_ultimate_x86_dvd_x15-65921.iso I followed the instructions I found in these forums. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=11194 The ImgBurn window looks like this just before I click to burn. The Mode tab is set to Build. The burn and verify processes go just fine, no problem at all. After I am done, I can see that the DVD has been burnt and I'll see this in the Computer folder. The Properties window looks like this. When go to Computer and open the DVD drive it shows no files whatsoever. My File settings allow me to see all files, including hidden, etc. I have put the discs in several computers with the same result, again, I know it's not just my computer that is not seeing any files. This is the log. I 14:25:56 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Only one?! There's a whole forum section full of guides. That 'en_windows_7_ultimate_x86_dvd_x15-65921.iso' file you have there is a '(disc) image file' (an 'ISO' file). As such, you use the 'Write image file to disc' option on the main screen. Of course if you have/had no idea what you were downloading, that would explain why the correct process wasn't immediately obvious to you. Even then, you should have realised that what you were doing to burn the DVD was nothing like what was mentioned in the guide. You'd missed 90% of the steps!
AngelsTasteFunny Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Only one?! .... You'd missed 90% of the steps! I know exactly what an .ISO file is. I have created, downloaded, and written a number of them and I followed the instructions to the letter. I'm not a noob, just had trouble with this one file.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Then you must have been trying to over complicate matters. There has only ever been 1 way to burn an ISO in my program, and that's using Write mode (a.k.a. the 'Write image file to disc' button).
AngelsTasteFunny Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Tried those instructions. DVD is burnt but shows up as empty in Computer. Again, burnt and validated perfectly.
mmalves Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Then your source image is defective. On another note, if you're going to re-download it, get the one(s) with SP1 integrated en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x86_dvd_619077.iso en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_618240.iso
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Please show us the log of you burning the image properly in Write mode.
AngelsTasteFunny Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Then your source image is defective. On another note, if you're going to re-download it, get the one(s) with SP1 integrated en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x86_dvd_619077.iso en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_618240.iso I downloaded both of them and they have written perfectly. Thank You What kept happening with the other images is, it would burn, the computer would show that it had 2.4 Gigs of used space, but no file names would show up. That was what confused me. I have had bad burns before, but the next burn of the same files would always be fine.
AngelsTasteFunny Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Then you must have been trying to over complicate matters. There has only ever been 1 way to burn an ISO in my program, and that's using Write mode (a.k.a. the 'Write image file to disc' button). I had tried the correct way even before I read any instructions. The files were bad. I downloaded some new ones, they have burned just fine and work perfectly.
