I have recently been getting the same error when I try to burn movies to DVD. I have tried everything possible by reading forums. I am wondering if the problem is my drive itself and if I should buy a new one. I am going to list my log, in hopes I can get some insight to what is going on. Thank You

Well...

I 20:34:54 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) (Speeds: 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

I 20:34:54 Write Speed: 2.4x

W 20:34:54 Write Speed Miscompare! - Wanted: 3,324 KB/s (2.4x), Got: 4,155 KB/s (3x)

2.4x is not an option, you did however try again later with 3x. For SL (single layer media) 8x should be fine.

A bigger problem is this:

CMC MAG-M01-00

CMC-MAG discs are junk, go with MCC (Verbatim +R) or TY (Tayo Yuden).

Also consider updating the firmware to your drive (TS-L633C)

http://www.firmwarehq.com/Samsung/TS-L633C/files.html

I 20:34:28 Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Edition (6.1, Build 7600)

Any reason why you are not running SP1 for Windows 7?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/service-packs

Also see if there are any chipset driver updates for your chipset. After that try again, but the best you can do is also get better media.

I have already updated my firmware...However, I will try a faster speed along with getting new discs...However, the discs that you mentioned where do I find those? I've been going to best buy and these are the only verbatim discs I've been able to purchase.

Thanks for your help...

Sorry forgot to mention, be careful with so-called "Verbatim" discs at best buy (unless you buy the dual layers). Single Layer Verbatim from Best Buy at the brick & mortar store carry the "data life plus" or "life series" brand. Those are also really CMC discs!! The DLs though are the good MKM discs.

Your best bet is to buy online. See: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000

Sure that thread talks about DL discs, however the sites listed are also good places to find REAL quality Verbatim single layer discs too.

E 20:35:26 CompareImageFileLayouts Failed! - Session Count Not Equal (1/0)

A very common error with Samsung burners. Low quality media is the common reason for it to happen.

As mentioned before, try some better media like Verbatim AZO (avoid the Chinese ones).

I 20:00:22 Book Type Setting: N/A (Reason: Incorrect function.)

The book type command is failing on your system because of some issue with your drivers (they're blocking it).

Make sure you install the latest chipset / controller drivers for your motherboard.

If it's an Intel board you'll want to install the INF chipset drivers and the Rapid Storage Tech drivers.
