Willie_Heckerslyke Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Hi all, new to the forum, but not to imgburn as I've used it for a few years now but have never had to ask for any help before cos it just...WORKED! (up till now that is #39;( ) My problem I think, is related to the fact I've recently fitted a new SSD drive as my main OS drive, and that is set up to run in ACHI mode - as recomended by the manufacturer (OCZ) My problems started when I tried to boot off my Win7 x64 install disc....the disc couldn't be read. I found out off the support forum that the optical drives need to be run in sata/eide mode and it was suggested to have all my disc drives plugged into my mobo's (Gigabyte p35c DS3R) Intel ICH9 sata ports running in ACHI mode, and to plug in my optical drives into Giga's own sata ports and run those in sata/eide mode. When I did this, the Win7 disc was recognised, booted up and installed everything OK. Everything seems to be OK...but here's the weird part. I installed the latest imgburn and burned a few single layer DVDs no probs, but I went to burn a single 8gb mkv movie file onto a DL disc, it goes all the way through the burn and completes with the dialogue box popped up at the end confirm it, but when I check the disc....there's nothing on it, and shows up as empty!!?? I've tried 3 or 4 times all with the same result. I've got the latest FW for my burner (Samsung S203B FW-SB04) and I've got Intel RST v10.1.0.1008 installed. Baffled as to what to try next tbh. Any help or advice if poss will be really appreciated. Cheers
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 If your drive is now on the gsata ports, it's probably connected to a JMicron controller. Use the drivers from here: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/SATA_Controller/Windows/ Now that you've installed your OS, can't you put the drive back on the Intel controller? Please post a log of you burning and verifying one of these problem DL discs.

I'm up early on my way to work but tried a different large file before I went to bed, but I've just seen that it had errored on the burn and never even completed this time (see c&p of log) I'll try the drivers you suggest later this evening when I get home, thanks for the link. (I take it I need the latest JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.62_WHQL.zip file, not the eSATA one below it do I?) Thx again Error Log: I 23:30:04 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 The write error is covered here - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000 Correct, you don't need the eSATA driver unless you're hot plugging externally. There's an updated firmware for your LiteOn drive - http://www.firmwarehq.com/Lite-On/iHOS104/files.html
Willie_Heckerslyke Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks Lightening UK.....problem solved! Installed the drivers from the link you provided and I've now done four DL discs on the trot Thank you very much for your help
