watwatwat Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Hello, I hope my questions for you guys are not that dumb, but I am just really new in this world. I hope there is somebody here that could help me. My roommate is doing this for a longer time, so now I wanted to try it on my own and he explained it too me. Today I tried to but a xbox 360 game on a dvd+r (double layer platinum 8.5 8x speed) I will just give you guys as much as information, since I don't know what you need to help me with this problem. So I downloaded crysis 2 from torrentz.eu and i found a right link. I unpacked it with winRAR and opened it with ImgBurn. I put this number in at the settings: 1913760. But the speed at 1x. All the settings where the same my roommate his settings. I started to overwrite the files to the cd, but after two minutes it stopped and gave me an error. This is the log of it: I 19:03:53 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started! So I suppose 2 cd's are broke now and I don't know what the problem is, neither does my roommate. My Dvd player has dual layer. So I can't think about something else then the torrents I downloaded weren't good or the settings of ImgBurn aren't the way they are suppose to be. Otherwise I really don't know beacause I don't have the knowledge about this subject. So I hope somebody could help me with it, if this is already asked here on this forum I appologize and will be happy with a link to that thread. Thanks.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Your drive reported a 'Write Error' when trying to burn the discs. The problem is nothing to do with *what* you're trying to burn to the discs. Have a read: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=8000
watwatwat Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks for your reply, it helps me a lot. So if I understand first I have to update the firmware on my drive. Where do I have to look to do this? At second I have to clean the drive (doesn't sound that weird because I haven't used it for over 6 months because of a exchange program. And if that doesn't work I just have to let my roommate burn it and I will have to buy a new pc. At last the 2 discs I used I could consider useless now? Thanks again.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Normally you'd just right click the drive selection drop down box. There's an option to check for firmware updates on the menu that pops up. Don't worry about doing it for your drive though, 'Firmware HQ' doesn't have anything for your drive. Yes, the 2 failed discs are useless.
ianymaty Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I will have to buy a new pc You don't need a new computer, just buy a new optical drive and replace the old one in that computer.
watwatwat Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Ok, thanks again guys! I gotcha, but I was already planning on buying a new computer.
