jimhadar Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I am using ImgBurn 2.5.5.0, Windows 7 x64 and an LG WH12LS30 12X Blu-Ray burner. The media is Optical Quantum 4X BD-R which displays as Disc ID: PHILIP-R04-000. The BD-R burns successfully and passes verification but is read as empty by the OS. I spoke with the company about this and did not get very far. I tried burns on DVD+R and DVD+RW media from another company and they burn fine with the same UDF 2.60 file system. I am puzzled about this because I do not have issues burning DVD's. Do you know what might be wrong? The logs are below. LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 The data is on there or verification wouldn't have worked. I assume you've tried removing the disc, rebooting and then reinserting the disc?
jimhadar Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Yes I did reboot and re-insert the disk. When I go into the explorer and click on the disk it shows it as blank.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 What happens if you bring up ImgBurn's Read mode? Can it see that anything is on the disc? It should show the volume label, file systems etc. Try checking the disc with something like IsoBuster too.
jimhadar Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 I tried new media today and got the same results. Read mode gives the following information: I attached a screenshot also. jimhadar Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Isobuster reads the burned disc and displays the files and folders in its window. I have not tried to extract any contents yet. It seems that Windows 7 is the one that has issues reading the file system. I get the same results with either the Vinpower Optical Quantum as the Ridata BDR's and that is: 1.) UDF 2.60 data disc written successfully. 2.) Verify successful. 3.) OS shows the disc as empty. 4.) Isobuster displays the file system 5.) Imgburn read shows the disc info. I did a burn today in ImgBurn with a very simple burn of 27 files and 14 folders of size 22.2 GB with the same discs and UDF 2.6 file system. The burn was read by windows and the files played. What is different about the burns that will not display in Windows is that it contains 226 top level directories which contain sub directories for a total of 26,237 directories and a total of 559,419 files. The total size of the disc is 22.4 GB. Do you think that maybe there is some limit on the UDF file system and it can't hold that much?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I must admit, when I first saw this... I 18:00:14 Contents: 488,019 Files, 22,158 Folders ... I did wonder if there might simply be too many files/folders present. I'm not sure if there's any way to tell why the OS's UDF parser is unhappy with the disc. Maybe it puts a note in Event Viewer?
