Hey everyone. I recently purchased a Samsung QX410. I became frustrated with Memorex DVD+RL so I decided to purchase Verbatims from best buy for my XBOX 360 backups. First burn in and it failed at around 42%. The discs are also made in Singapore.

Here is the log

Can anyone help me out with this? I'd rather not waste another one of these expensive discs.

Thanks!!

I'm afraid there's no straightforward answer/fix for this. Your drive is just messing up.

You'll have to try burning at all of the the supported speeds (notice that 2.4x isn't one of them). Personally, I'd start with 4x.

All laptop 'slim' drives are rubbish at burning (compared to 'normal' size ones). If MKM-003-00 doesn't work out for you, try buying some 2.4x rated Verbatims instead - MKM-001-00 dye.

If that doesn't work you'll have to think about getting another drive - i.e. a normal size one in a USB enclosure or something.

Does anyone know if my drive is even capable of burning dual layer? All reviews on the internet says my computer can. It is a Samsung QX410-S02. I made sure it did before I purchased it, but I contacted Samsung and they said it is not a dual layer burner. I am very confused.
