Just downloaded the program and haven't been able to use it as yet. Each time I start it I get an I/O error where it hangs at "Searching for SCSI / ATAPT Devices" until I "OK" the error dialog box. This happens twice in succesion before telling me my drive will not be visable. The drive is about two years old (LG). It shows up within Device Mgr and within Explorer and otherwise operates fine. The transfer rate is set to manual/32mb. No other settings have been touched. After reviewing the FAQ's and searching posts I followed suggestion of using the debug.

What controller have you attached that drive to?

Maybe it doesn't support ATAPI devices.

At the moment, your drivers are rejecting the most basic 'Inquiry' command. I don't even think it's reaching the drive at all.

You could try following the DMA post in the FAQ and uninstalling your IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers from within Device Manager and then rebooting.

I don't know how to tell what exact controller I have attached to the drive.

There is also a firmware update I've been putting off for the LG burner in question. Load the firmware first then uninstall the drivers and reboot. I'll get back to this thread with the result. Thanks for the help.

Well, The properties stated it is using CDROM.sys, InCDPass.sys, and InCDRm.sys

cdrom.sys is ver: 6.0.6002 18005 (h_sp2tm.090410-1830)dated 6/21/2006. I looked through the Microsoft tech and download sites but couldn't find any driver update for Vista HP. The other two are from Nero and dated 2008

Updated the firmware for the burner and uninstalled drivers then rebooted.

I had a system loockup and startup repair had to roll back to before I installed ImgBurn. The reinstall went off without a hitch - playtime...

Question: any conflicts I should be aware of having ImgBurn and Nero on the same plate?

Thanks so much for the help and advice.

I'd ditch the InCD stuff completely but maybe that's just me.

They're the kind of drivers (filter drivers in this case) that stop programs from working.

You can use the Filter Driver feature in ImgBurn's Tools menu to get rid of them.

Is the program actually working ok now?

Ok... do you mean to say that there is a tool within your tool menu that will remove those drivers?

I only use Nero for the DVD burn anyway - it came with the drive unit install disk so once I got the hang of ImgBurn there will be no need for it at all.

I don't know it the progran is working correctly or if the settings are correct for my needs. There are a lot of settings - more than I've seen is any program in my life. Is there a "this does that...that does this" guide for all the settings? Sorry, I am new to the file structure terminology and tech for that matter. I do know that it installed quickly with no errors and my burner was recognized. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble with my video editing software and my system so project work has slowed conciderably. I have one DVD DL disk left - waiting on stock delivery. I'll read through the tutorials and see what I can do with the TS files I have ready.

I tend to burn quite a few DVD DL disks for school plays, Band compititon and the like. A bit more then what can fit on a DVD5and still keep quality above 70%. This one I'm working on now is 127 minutes - a documentary. It loses a lot compressing to DVD5.

I know you must be busy. I've been reviewing you Drive/media testing logs. A Graph is worth a thousand words. If you like, I will let you know if it worked for me. Again, Thank you.

Now that you got ImgBurn, you can get rid of the whole Nero product if you don't need something from it like LightScribe or CoverDesigner.

After that go to Tool menu\Filter Driver Load Order hit the Copy To Clipboard and paste here, someone will have a look.

Read the Guides to know how to prepare your files to be burned.

Yes.

By 'working ok', I meant is it still stuck searching for devices or does it actually get past that point now?

It worked![/size]

I read through your instructions for burning a DL and it burned perfectly when Studio 15 and Nero had so many errors they quit! You've got a convert. It will be a good challenge/learning curve - a way to begin to understand the finer nuances’, structures, and nomenclature. Thanks so much. "I had one disk left and It did not go to waste.

I do have a question. When I was at "create layer break position" screen, when trying to preview, the preview window showed a static image. I thought it may have been an install problem or a bad file, but when I moved the preview window out of the way the video played normally. Any time I stopped moving the preview window the image went static again. Audio would continue without a problem. I'm wondering if this might also be related to my problem with the A/D capture device acting as though it requires buffering every 2 seconds. Hard to tell - but thought you should know. Maybe you have heard of something like this happening. If so please let me know. I'd like to find out why I can't capture from tape. Been that way for two weeks now.

Off Topic

I took the liberty of reformatting and condensing the users manual in MSWord 2007. Mainly for my own use as it had 167+ pages, but without loosing a word of text or loosing image clarity got it to 87 single sided pages. That should reduce the file size considerably. I'll whittle it down more once the table of contents is properly linked. Anyway, If you'd like to see it and perhaps offer it as a download to forum member just let me know - I know - I have way too much time on my hands...

In any case, again thank you. I shall continue to read ImgBurn articles, tutorials, and at some point, in the far future, be able to participate/contribute more actively with the Forum.

This has nothing to do with ImgBurn.

Studio 15 (I think you talk about Pinnacle) isn't able to capture from tape analog (VHS, 8mm) unless it was digitized in some way.

One way is to analog-to-digital pass-through the signal with a capable camera or through a converter box.

Pinnacle Studio 12 is the last from the series that I know it can do analog capture.

Welcome, keep it up.
