im trying to burn an xbox 360 game onto a dvd+r dl disk... i followed a good tutorial and now i have some problems..

the problems start off on the log at the bottom where i get one error message that reads "W 19:24:26 Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance." i enter 1913760 in the write section under tools, it seems to work and i do nothing else there, in source when i load the file, it says image file or winrar archive, but when i extract the winrar archive one, it gives me the 3 files systemupdate audio and video. if i dont extract it, and just click on it tells me i shoudve loaded the .dvd file that i couldnt. so i cotinued and when i click change book type it says current media: dvd + r dl, but when i go to liteon and try to change media to anything else but current drive(dvd+rw) it gives me this error in the current setting spot.

unknown (error)

invalid field in CDB.

so im forced to change to dvd + rw, but when i do i dont see anything that confirms my change, and when i go back into book type it still says current media: DVD + R DL...

when i click write i first get an error saying

set L0 data zone capacity failed!

reason: write protected

it gives me the option to continue, and shortly after i get this..

I/O error!

I didn't expect it to.

Update ImgBurn too.

Your drive doesn't support the 'RITEK-S04-66' MID/dye at all. The brand name stamped on discs doesn't mean anything - they all just use the same cheapo dyes. If you aren't using Verbatim discs then you probably aren't using the decent MKM-001-00 or MKM-003-00 MID/dyes.

Again, the update isn't/wasn't going to magically fix your problem - it's not anything to do with the program itself. Old versions aren't supported and there's just no reason to be using one.

Yes, the problem is your discs. Or to be exact, a combination of your drive/firmware/media.

As for where to find the type of dye, you look in the disc info box on the right when you're in Write mode.

It lists the manufacturer / disc id in there.

ya it says ritek.. soooooo is there anywhere i can find vertabim locally? and if i buy some vertabim disks is there a good change my problems will be fixed or is my computer a main part of the problems? thankyou for the help btw.

I know you're using Ritek, I can see that from the log :)

My local is not your local.

There are links to some website that sell Verbatim discs in the thread you were linked to earlier.

You'd probably need the original 2.4x speed Verbatim discs (MKM-001-00 dye) rather than the 8x ones (MKM-003-00) - which might also not be supported.

Alternatively, get yourself a decent normal height (NOT slimline!) drive and put it in an external enclosure.

just ordered a pack of 20 2.4x 8.5 gb dvd + r dl spindle branded disc model from newegg.com for 25$.. i might get a new computer soon so will this work at all with the slimline?

The only way to know is to try.

Verbatim MCC/MKM dye is the best you can get on the market. If a drive can't burn that the drive is usless.
