I have no trouble burning RW DVD's but when I try to burn on a blank disc (R+), I get hung up on the last task. My device driver is up to date and I'm royally confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I changed the burn speed to 8x and it still got stuck at the end at Synchronising. Here is the log from the 8x attempt.

What controller is the drive attached to? If you don't know exactly, maybe you know what chipset the motherboard uses in general? (Intel, AMD etc)

 

Try turning off the auto change booktype option in the settings, then power the machine down, wait a few seconds and power it back up again. Then do another burn.

I turned off the auto change booktype option and shut down the computer. Restarted and burned another coaster that got hung up on the same message. I'm not sure how to tell what controller the drive is attached to. My motherboard is MSI 790FX-GD70. I use the AMD 955 BE CPU at stock. Here is another report after this last attempt:

That's a little weird, my LG GGW-H20L certainly doesn't booktype to DVD-ROM after being turned off and on again.

 

From the MSI website...

So which port number is the drive plugged in to? You'll have to actually look at the motherboard for that info (i.e. open the case )

My drive is plugged into SATA port 6.
