I have been burning cds for about a year now at the rate of approx 30 per week using the same cd media and using Express burn plus cd burning software with no problems. i wanted to burn several cds at once so i downloaded imgburn and loaded several instances of imgburn on the hd. i have read the guide several times but still haven't been able to get a cd to play on the cd player in my car. it appears to me that the disc is not being finalized but i'm sure its something i haven't gotten right yet. this last try i slowed down to 10x just to see if that helped. hope you can help. thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Express burn seems to default to burning in TAO mode. ImgBurn uses SAO mode as it's way more flexible. So either your drive is producing bad SAO burns or your player just doesn't like SAO burns full stop.
arnold113 Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 thanks for the quick reply. not knowing a lot about computers i don't know what TAO and SAO are. is there anything that i can do to over come this problem? i had the same results when i tried a usb cd drive to burn a cd. i was sure looking foward being able to burn my 30 or so cds every week by using multiple usb drives and multiple instances of imgburn. thanks for any help you can give me.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 TAO and SAO are two of the different 'Write Modes' a drive can be instructed to use (there's 4 in total). You can control where things go when you use SAO. When you use TAO you're stuck with a 2 second gap between tracks. I'm sure you could Google for more info on the different write modes if you are really interested ImgBurn can do TAO mode (it's an option in the settings on the Write tab) but I recall an issue with it in 2.5.5.0 (fixed a long time ago ready for 2.5.6.0).

LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Like I said, the TAO bug is a known one that has since been fixed. You'll have to wait for 2.5.6.0 to try TAO out properly.
arnold113 Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 i finally got a cd burned that works using SAO. just was't getting it done right before. i'm still having problems writting to my new usb cd drive with imgburn. it works fine with express burn plus. i guess its not a very good drive, doesn't like TAO. i think i'll send it back and get a better drive. thanks for your help. arnold
