This was with a brand new from packet TDK brand media DVD+RW 4x |120 min | 4.7 GB on a first time install of ImgBurn

downloaded directly from the download on your site..

Everything appears to work normally until the status count reaches 96%, at which point Imgburn appears to freeze up.

Would you concur that the jamming of ImgBurn at 96% is down to a hardware fault which is not being reported in the log,

or a physical media fault? I am asking this because I don't see how ImgBurn could be failing at this point from a software

perspective.

If you haven't already terminated ImgBurn, press the F8 key to enable I/O debug mode and see if I/O commands are still be issued - you should see them being logged in the log window.

The drive itself performs the format, ImgBurn simply polls for progress updates.

If it's stuck, yes, there's some issue with your drive/firmware/media combo.

To be honest, I don't know where that ZL0A firmware came from in the first place! The latest one LiteOn have available is ZL03 :/

Thanks for the F8 tip... That's the next thing I will check.

i) F8 debug log

ii) Upgrade the firmware

iii) Ask Lite-on if they keep a list of 'confirmed' media that works :)

The drive seems to be going forwards and backwards a lot with the % complete bit at the end of the format.

I'd say it's just having problems with the disc. Try a Verbatim DVD+RW (probably 8x) disc instead.

I will do so, after I've had a response from LiteOn (the drive seems to be an OEM type they supply

to system builders) about 'confirmed' media. The online tool LiteOn provide in respect of firmware

update checking claimed I already had the latest firmware for the drive, but that's obviously not

fool-proof:)

It's a shame but it's looking like i'm going to have to write a letter to TDK expressing concerns

about media quality.

Have other forum users here experienced difficulty or degraded performance with TDK branded media?

(as I don't exactly have hi-end pro level test equipment to do in depth diagnostics on optical media)
