sgbooth Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Hi, Can I use ImageBurn to format dvd's ? My dvd recorder's format function has apparently died. It will record to an 'old' dvd that i've wiped, but won't allow a new disk to be formatted. I need to get all my old recorded tv programmes off the recorder before I get the machine repaired (if it's worth it). Thanks.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 It depends on what sort of 'formatting' you're talking about. Where ImgBurn is concerned, only DVD+RW discs need formatting. If you're using any other type of media, no, ImgBurn can't format them. (Then you're talking about creating a basic / blank file system on the disc - which isn't what ImgBurn does) If you want to format a brand new DVD+RW disc, go into Write mode and you'll find an Erase button in the Destination box. A full erase on a DVD+RW makes the program perform a format operation on it.
