Hi,

Can I use ImageBurn to format dvd's ?

My dvd recorder's format function has apparently died. It will record to an 'old' dvd

that i've wiped, but won't allow a new disk to be formatted.

I need to get all my old recorded tv programmes off the recorder before I get the machine repaired

(if it's worth it).

Thanks.

It depends on what sort of 'formatting' you're talking about.

Where ImgBurn is concerned, only DVD+RW discs need formatting.

If you're using any other type of media, no, ImgBurn can't format them.

(Then you're talking about creating a basic / blank file system on the disc - which isn't what ImgBurn does)

If you want to format a brand new DVD+RW disc, go into Write mode and you'll find an Erase button in the Destination box.

A full erase on a DVD+RW makes the program perform a format operation on it.
