Pirate Problem Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'm using Memorex DVD+r DL disks. I've done this dozens of times already using Memorex and this is the first time it has happened to me. After burning for a while I get this message. I've wasted about 10 disks doing this and it seems to always happen at either 55% or 62% (not sure if this means anything). I've tried burning at different speeds and turning off programs to save memory and it still doesn't work. Let me know what you think. Once again, I've done this at least 40 times using Memorex disks without any problems over the past few months. I took a break for about a month and now I get this problem. Cynthia Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 The old Memorex discs that could be written in the past, did they have the same media code? This media code is usually tricky for burners to deal with as it's rare to see it supported by the firmware/burner. I 16:52:56 Destination Device: [0:0:0] TSSTcorp CDDVDW SE-S084D TS01 (F:) (USB)I 16:52:56 Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: MBIPG101-R10-65) (Speeds: 3x, 4x) Insert an old disc and switch to read mode and look in text of the right side of the progrram under disc info.
spinningwheel Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Your Memorex discs are junk. If you read the topic referred to you would try again with the recommended media. HERE are the Google results for a search for your discs.

Then yes, it's different. I guess I got lucky the first time and got a good batch but this second batch is crap? Something else I just noticed, the ones that failed to burn successfully come up as empty with 25.3 gb free space when put inside my computer. I've been buying these off Amazon. Is there anyway I can tell if they will be RITEK or MBIPG101 before purchasing? I just realized the first batch was from an amazon seller and the second batch was from Amazon. spinningwheel Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Read FAQ # 5, it explains about discs. You can look at Meritline.com for Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim discs if you're in the States.
Pirate Problem Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I bought new disks, Verbatims from singapore (they're supposed to be the best) and every disk I've tried burned to completion. But when I try to verify, about half disks failed verification. About 3/4 of the disks that failed failed at 50%, others failed at around the 90% mark. But they all still work when I put them into my Xbox (games play fine as far as I can tell). What should I do now? Get a new burner?
