avchd burning question

I have made a directory that contains the files AVCHD

but I cant burn it to a dvd-dl disc and run it on the bluray player

when I run this finished disc in the computer powerdvd runs and shows avchd resume or resart but selecting either fails to run

it wont register in the stand alone bluray player shows date disc and not a movie disc

so whats missing in the setup of this program to make it operate ?

You didn't verify the disc so we can't see if it's actually readable.

Assuming it would have been, the issue must be with your source files (and/or the folder structure).

ImgBurn just burns 'as-is', so if something doesn't playback your disc, it must be because it can't read the disc itself or doesn't like what's on it.

What software did you use to create said AVCHD structure in the first place?

thats the problem I used this program multiavchd and this program uses the program imburn with 100% success Imburn strat from the program and burns the disk

then it leave a copy in the directory , and its this copy I cant re burn by starting imburn as a stand alone program

as stated it rights to the disc and the files are on it but wont play ... I can open the file structure in windos and run each m2ts file so the burn is correct in the video

is there something that mulitcvchd does to the imburn ? that i should do ?

If you've got discs that multiavchd burnt (via ImgBurn) that work and discs you've burnt (via ImgBurn) that don't work, compare the folder structure to see what's different.

It could be something as simple as including (or not including) the 'certificate' folder.

Ok in the discs that multiavchd burnt (via ImgBurn) this has in the certificate folder a file id.bdmv and this is missing in both the files on the hard drive and the files on the disc made singly by imgburn

I take it then ingburn must some how make this file .

ImgBurn can be told to make/add the 'certificate' folder if it doesn't exist, but it never puts anything inside it.

If you can't locate that folder / file on your hard drive, multiavchd must be creating it temporarily and then removing it later on.

multiavchd has lots of special tricks to create the right file/folder structure for a given player.

If you want it to leave that file/folder structure intact once it has been closed down, asks its author how to do it - it's nothing to do with me.

I must be doing something incorrectly

You aren't.

ImgBurn just burns what you give it. If what you give it is missing folders/files, that's down to you (or whatever made those folders/files in the first place).

Playback compatibility is not really my concern - there are too many variations and I don't have the time or means to keep up with them all.

Like I said, talk to the author of multiavchd (over at the Doom9 forums) and ask him where that certificate and 'id.bdmv' file are coming from - if not found on your hdd.

well this cound assit all otheres with a problem burning a directory with AVCHD to be able to use on almost every blueray player

its realy not a program fault or a file fault it just not knowing how to use your program the correct way

From what I am told this will do the job no matter what program has made the AVCHD directory with the files in it

start the program in explorer then select the diretory BDMV & Certific drag to IMGburn and burn to a d-l dsic and your done

the problem is if one drags the entire AVCHD directory your program aparently make it for a sony games machine or simular and not a stand alone Player , strange but thats was my problem and the solution

I hope you can advice otheres so not to waist the disc and time

My program doesn't make it for any type of machine. It's generic in its approach.

It'll add what you add to it and it won't add what you don't! (with the exception of creating AUDIO_TS / CERTIFICATE folders based on the options in the settings)

If you have an AVCHD folder that just contains a BDMV folder and a CERTIFICATE folder, it makes no difference if you add the AVCHD folder or the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders. What gets burnt to the disc will be exactly the same.
