LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Try burning at 8x if 4x isn't working for you (2.4x doesn't exist as an option for your drive/firmware/media combo). If that still doesn't work, buy some better discs.
likishi84 Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 here is the error message i get i/o error device [2:2:0] hl-dt-st dvdram ghf40 mg01 (e:) (ata) scsistatus: 0x02 interpretation: check condition cdb:28 00 00 00 05 10 00 00 01 00 interpretation: read (10) – sector: 1296 sense area : 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 0c 10 90 00 00 00 interpretation: unknown (crc or ere error) (asc: 0x10, ascq: 0x90) done it at 8x speed still didnt work can you say a good drive that i could replace mine with that would do it no problem
mmalves Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I'd get the latest model by Optiarc (usually AD-7280S or AD-7260S), as it's a good burner and cheap price too.
likishi84 Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 thanks any more help with the burner that i already have would be much appreciated dont know why it is coming up with 1/o error would it be the discs i am using or some thing else
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 It's some combination of your drive/firmware/media. Changing any one of the three could potentially fix the issue. You might have more luck with some decent Verbatim / Taiyo Yuden discs - and I'd actually recommend you start using those even if you do get a new / better drive.
likishi84 Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 dose any one know of a driver that i can use on my windows 7 pc for this drive gsa-2164d as i can only find xp or 2000 drivers i know it worked on my vista when i had it
mmalves Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 It shouldn't need a driver, Windows already has built-in what it needs.
likishi84 Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 then for some reason it is not picking up my blank media that i put in it reads disc that has stuff on them and reads blank cds but not blank dvds and dont know why

LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 You should put the verify speed back on MAX, there's no point in artificially limiting it. If there's a problem reading at max speed, you'd *want* to know about it (even if it works at 8x ok). The burn and verify were both successful. So in your burner at least, there's nothing wrong with the disc. If your wii has a problem with it, maybe that's its problem (or a problem with what you're burning).
