silvercue Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Hi, hope someone can help. I am trying to burn a large amount of data from an IMG file. The burn seems to work ok and the verify flies along until it gets to about 93% and then I get errors. I have attached a log. Eventually I also get mismatches. The DVD disk s I am using are Bulkpaq 4x. They are somewhat old and default to 4x speed. I have purchased and used a good lens cleaner, but don;t know whether the problem is hardware, media or software. Any ideas would be greta thanks ImgBurn.log
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 This is some drive/firmware/media combo issue. You can update the firmware using files found here - http://www.firmwarehq.com/BenQ/DW1620/files.html If that doesn't solve it, change one of the other two (or both). Personally I'd ditch the discs and buy something decent.
silvercue Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 Thanks Lightning. I will try the update. I did think about replacing the disks and read your FAQ about what ones to use, but it wasn't quite as simple as I expected!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 It shouldn't be too difficult, just anything Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (now Victor JVC). Both of which can be purchased from http://www.totalblankmedia.com
silvercue Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 thanks I will get some. Updated the firmware and now the verify fails even earlier. I did about 10 burns before and all were in 90% range when failed. Now they fail at 69%. Also, system crashing since update, I will see if I can roll back.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 It's very unlikely a firmware update would crash a system. If you mean you're getting BSOD now, you'd have to examine the memory dump file to see what the actual problem is. Seriously, you're just wasting time with those blanks. Even if you do finally get 1 that burns and verifies ok, it'll probably stop working before you put it in a case!
silvercue Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 OK, Verbatim disks ordered. Will post back with results in a few days when they have arrived. Thanks for the help so far.
silvercue Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 OK, so new disks arrived and the job completed and verified 100% successfully first time. Thanks for all the help and I have learned something too.
