sam007 Posted January 1, 2012 Share Posted January 1, 2012 Hi I am experiencing problems with imgburn ver 2.5.6.0 during burning discs so I decided to uninstall it and re-install it again. However, when I uninstall I get this NSIS error message: Error launching installer, and fails to uninstall. When attempting to re-install over the currently installed software, I get this error: ImgBurn 2.5.6.0 setup, Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory. Please try again later. I have searched through teh forum for a similar previous problem to check for a resolution but couldn't find any. I am running Windows 7 64-bit and my drive is ATAPI DVD A DH16A6L ATA (I have run ImgBurn 2.5.5.0 before upgrading to the newer version without a problem). LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 1, 2012 Share Posted January 1, 2012 It's probably related to whatever antivirus/malware type software you're running. There's no real need/point in uninstalling+reinstalling, just delete the ImgBurn registry key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ImgBurn) and then run the program as normal - it'll revert to default settings. I have disabled the currently installed anti virus software 'Kaspersky 2012' and deleted the ImgBurn registry key as advised. However, this did not resolve the situation I am experiencing and the error messages I get when attempting to uninstall or reinstall still appear, and I do not have this situation when installing other utility applications. 1. LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 2, 2012 Share Posted January 2, 2012 You missed my point. Uninstalling + reinstalling isn't necessary. ImgBurn is just a single exe. If you've wipe out the settings via the registry key then it's as good as gone. Just run the ImgBurn.exe file again via the normal shortcut and it'll start with fresh (default) settings. If you have a problem with it after that, post the log so we can try to help you. I don't know why the installer is failing but that's an NSIS problem and not an ImgBurn one.
