heimdal Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 bought me a SONY/NEC Optiarc 5300S the other day, connected via SATA directly to the MB the problem is i cant burn BD-r DL media, tried 2 times same error. BD-R (PHILIP-R04-000). & BD-RE (RITEK-BW1-001) works fine MEDIA: Mediarange BD-R DL (CMCMAG-DI6-000) on mediarange's compability chart it says the Optiarc 5300S should burn that media. Firmware says i have a 2.00 firmware, but the only FW i've found is 1.04, wich i find kind of strange (bought the drive as bulk without any accessories) LOG: I 15:17:33 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started! Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 'CD Control Error' isn't one that pops up very often but the actual error numbers (ASC 0x73, ASCQ 0x00) are very similar to loads of other 'power calibration' related errors (all ASC 0x73 but with ASCQ values of 0x01 to 0x17). Power calibration errors are typically a sign of a bad drive/firmware/media combo (or a dirty / dying drive). It's not about burning at slower speeds, some just work better than others - they could be faster or slower. You only had a choice of 2 and so could only go slower.
