ImgBurn in VirtualBox

I'm trying to run

- ImgBurn 2.5.6.0

- in VirtualBox 4.1.8

- under OpenSuse 12.1

 

The guest OS in VirtualBox is Windows XP with SP3, and I have "passthrough" enabled for the DVD drive.

 

When I start ImgBurn, it hangs. The status message in the lower left corner is "Initializing disc".

This happens both with and without AnyDVD 6.9.1.0. running.

 

I can access the drive in Windows Explorer, and play DVD's with VLC.

Does it start ok when there's no disc in the drive?

 

You'll have to enable I/O debug mode to capture which I/O command the virtual machine/drive is failing to process. This is covered in the FAQ where it talks about getting stuck searching for devices.

Sorry, I wasn't being precise. ImgBurn doesn't hang when I start it, it hangs when I click "Create image file from disc".

If there's no disc in the drive and I click "Create image file from disc", the program doesn't hang. It just displays "Device not Ready (Medium Not present)" in the lower left corner.

 

ImgBurn doesn't hang in a "real" installation of Windows XP SP3 (dual-boot), only in VirtualBox.
