Boiler Pete Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 I'm probably embarassing myself by asking this question, but here goes. I'm trying to burn an image file to a Memorex DVD+RW disc. When I insert it in the D drive, the destination menu window shows the following: Sony CD-RW CRX320EE (D:). The write button and the profile description window remain grayed. How Do I get the write function to recognize the actual destination medium and operate properly? Here is the log: I 13:04:00 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started! Boiler Pete Posted February 15, 2012 Author Share Posted February 15, 2012 I was able to write this data file to a little CD-R disc, but it only held 770MB and not all of my data file would fit. So what kind of disc should I be using to get this somewhat somewhat larger file to succesfully be written ? The data file I am writing (or trying to) is not a DVD. LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Maybe what you're trying to write isn't meant to be burnt to a disc at all. Size wise, the next one up from CD is DVD. But like I said, your drive can't burn those. You can get oversized CD-R discs - normal ones are 74 or 80 mins (of CD Audio, which is about 640/700MB in data terms) but you can get 90 and 99 minute ones too if you look hard enough. Boiler Pete Posted February 15, 2012 Author Share Posted February 15, 2012 Not exactly sure what you're asking, but it is a .MDS file taken from a disc containing tons of photographs taken at a recent class reunion. This material has been copied onto discs by many other people many times. In fact, the source disc is the same kind of medium I'm trying to use as my destination disc; namely, a DVD+RW disc. Posted February 15, 2012 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Right so if the source disc was a DVD and once you've created an image of it you can't burn it to a CD (because CD doesn't hold as much), you'll either have to... 1. Buy a DVD writer so you can burn to DVDs or 2. Copy all the files off the source disc into a folder on your computer (using drag+drop in Explorer), split them into chunks of around 690MB and then burn each chunk to its own CD.
