But I have been trying to burn this home movie DVD-R to another DVD-R for about 5 months and it has been giving me problems and I am at my wits end. I have tried using Nero 9, a couple other free programs, and now ImgBurn. When I tried to create an image file from disc I got the message: "sorry, using Read mode to create an image file from a multi-track DVD-ROM disc is not currently supported. Instead, use Build mode to create a new 'clean' image based on the contents of the disc." When I tried to build a clean image, the buffer got to 97% before an error message came up and said: "cannot read from file D:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB Reason: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." Will add that this is the only one that has been giving me trouble... I've copied about 200 home movies previously without any trouble. Not sure what other information you need. The disc is not scratched from what I can see and there is no dust, fingerprints, or anything else. What is ISOBuster and is it safe to download so that I don't get any viruses or tracking cookies, malware, or anything malicious in nature? I just don't get why this is the only one that won't copy. ianymaty Posted March 30, 2012 Share Posted March 30, 2012 I'm sure you can google for IsoBuster and see for yourself. There are other programs that can try to copy a damaged disc, just google, you might get succes with one. Also you can try with ImgBurn if you want by slowing down the read speed and activate "Ignore read errors" in Tools > Settings > Read. Remember there is no guarantee that you can recover it entirely but you can try to save what's possible. Another possible solution would be to import the video into a authoring program that supports import from media and reauthor it. I recall Ulead Movie Factory 8 could do that. LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 30, 2012 Share Posted March 30, 2012 Build mode relies on the OS for being able to read the files off the disc (normally it would be reading a hard drive). There's no special read error / retry handling in place for that and being 'Build' mode, the 'Read' mode options don't apply.
