Have been using Imgburn for sometimes, but recently this problem occured.

The Audio CD burned and verified O.K (source Flac or APE files with .CUE) but produced no sound.

It plays fine on CD player only without any sound.

Really love the software, it's very good when it works. Please help.

Here is the information:

It must be related to whichever filter is being used. These are generic directshow issues and are external to ImgBurn.

Does the disc play ok on the PC or is the issue with your standalone player AND the PC?

Posted

@LIGHTNING UK!

Thanks for your reply, the Audio CD in question doesn't produce any sound anywhere, tried it to play in PC, car stereo, standalone CD player.

What is the solution?

Had the files have decoded to digital silence (a bunch of zeros), ImgBurn would have detected it and told you about the problem.... so it must be something close to it but not complete silence :)

Do you know what filters are installed on your machine for handling flac files?

madFlac is the one I've tried and tested.

It produces a filter driver list like this though, so I'm not sure if it's what you're also using/running...

---------------------------

ImgBurn

---------------------------

File Name:

C:\Users\Richard\Desktop\01 From Me To You.flac

DirectShow Filter List:

1. -> madFlac (01 From Me To You.flac) (Vendor Info: Unknown)

2. -> Sample Grabber (Vendor Info: Unknown)

3. -> Null Renderer (Vendor Info: Unknown)

---------------------------

OK

Do you have any codec packs installed on your PC? The first thing to do would be to uninstall those.

I guess what you're aiming for is a system where ImgBurn tells you it can't decode the flac files because there are no DirectShow filters installed that can do the job - at which point you can just install madFlac.

You can use 'InstalledCodec' to get a list of what's currently on the system.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html

In the 'View' menu you'll find an option to create a HTML report of all items. Do that, save the report (via the File menu, press the 'Alt' key to bring it up if it's not already visible), zip it up and then upload it here if you like - I'll take a look.

If you have multiple filters that can handle a certain type of file, you can use DSFMgr to change their 'Merit' (priority).

Hi, here's the file attached please take a look.

As you can see I've installed Madflac in an attempt to solve the problem but still some of Audio CD has no sound but some of them are O.K.

FYI I installed CCCP codec to be able to play some video files but already uninstalled it.

If you found some filters that could be the problem could you pls tell me how to uninstall them?

Really appreciate your help.

It looks like you've still got the 'Matroska Pack' installed.

That's given you the CoreFlac and ffdshow.

You also have DC-Bass installed. I believe all of those support decoding flac files.

Open up the DSFMgr program I linked you to earlier, find madFlac and change it's 'Merit' to 'Preferred' (00800000)

If need be, you can highlight and 'unregister' filters using that same application.

Make sure you're using ImgBurn 2.5.7.0 and try again.
