Sony DVD+R discs, have worked in the past... Any tips? LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 25, 2012 Share Posted April 25, 2012 The 'Sony' name stamped on the discs doesn't mean anything, you're using 'RITEK-F16-01' dye/MID discs. Sony could chop and change the dye/MID they use whenever they like - so a spindle of discs you buy today might not be the same as the one you got last week. Yes, your drive might benefit from being cleaned. It would probably also perform a little better on some quality discs - Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (Victor JVC). And actually i was getting power calibration errors at the time. just dont know how but i managed to overcome them. Is it also possible to be OS related. Because I think that time I managed to burn them successfully in windows vista while dual booting.
